Some places are built simply to be visited.
Ulion Hill was built with the hope that it would become a place to return to - an 'Ulion'... a local Dusun word that meant beyond just coming home but returning with longing for something deeper - connecting and creating memories with loved ones.
It began with a simple dream—a hope that, somewhere among the hills and cool mountain air, there could be a place that felt familiar. A place where people could pause, breathe, gather with the people they love, and create memories they would want to revisit.
The home (building) was intentionally built with extra apartments, not simply to make more rooms available, but because we imagined families and friends returning again and again. We hoped that after their first stay, Ulion Hill would no longer feel like just another place they had travelled to—but a small part of their own collection of memories.
Perhaps they would return for another family holiday. Perhaps for a birthday, a reunion, a quiet weekend, or simply because they missed the feeling of being here.
We wanted our guests to have enough space to laugh together, cook together, rest together, and simply be together. And when it was time to leave, we hoped they would take something with them—not something they could pack in a bag, but a feeling.
The feeling of warmth.
Of belonging.
Of having found a place where they could come back.
Ulion Hill may have been built from concrete, wood, and walls, but its true purpose has always been much softer than that.
It was built with hope.
Hope that every guest who arrives will feel at home, even if only for a few days. And hope that when they leave, they will already be looking forward to the day they return—to make more memories, share more laughter, and once again, find their way back to Ulion Hill.
Because some places are meant to be visited.
And some places are meant to be returned to.
Welcome to Ulion Hill—where every stay feels a little like coming home.
